My snowy New England childhood fostered my healthy lifestyle, but despite my active youth, I suffered from frequent back pain and was eventually diagnosed with scoliosis (sideways curvature of the spine).

My cousin invited me to a yoga class in 2004, and despite my initial resistance, I fell in love with those sacred 60 minutes of worry-free bliss, followed by uplifting lightness, abundant energy, and even weight loss. I began practicing regularly, and I was thrilled to find relief from my back pain as the muscles supporting my spine gained strength and flexibility.

I often wish I’d known about yoga’s calming and balancing benefits during my overflowing, hectic college experience. My BA in Communication from Colby-Sawyer College has aided my previous work in the hospitality and customer service industries and currently helps me connect with my students in a truly meaningful way.

I continue to deepen my healing knowledge at The Omega Institute, a holistic educational retreat center in New York, by studying with established yoga teachers Baron Baptiste, Seane Corn, and Jimmy Barkan. I received my 200 hour Ashtanga yoga certification in 2009 from Yoga Ah Studio in Cincinnati, OH.

I maintain a simple, abundant lifestyle by nurturing my body with healthy food, caring for the environment, keeping a daily gratitude journal, creating discovery collages, supporting local businesses and spending lots of time upside down, fostering a creative outlook. I remain young at heart, dreaming up a joyful community where adults are encouraged to play on their mats with awareness and self love: Front Porch Yoga!
